In 2022, just in the five boroughs of New York City, there were 100,508 vehicular accidents, with Brooklyn leading the statistics at 32,788 crashes. The leading cause of all accidents was distracted driving, which resulted in 28,753 events. The second leading cause—failure to yield right-of-way—accounted for only 7,823 crashes.
